Blackberry Cobbler

Blackberry Cobbler (from Betty Crocker)

2 1/2 cups blackberries (thawed or fresh)
1 cup Sugar (I used organic, fair trade)
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 Tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix berries and sugar and set aside for twenty minutes (until syrup forms).
Mix together remaining ingredients until batter is smooth.
Spoon batter into ungreased 8" pan.
Spoon berry mixture on top.
Cook for 45-55 minutes.
This recipe says not to substitute blueberries.
Enjoy!

Cheers.

Blackberry Picking with my Best Friends

Photo Essays

My hard working husband finally broke and bought me my big girl camera.  I have alot of learning ahead of me.  I want to take better photos and really get my money's worth.   So...my next few blog posts will be what is known  as photo essays.  Thanks to my neighbor, Edwige, I have a book called 150 Projects to Strengthen Your Photography Skills (by John Easterby).  One of them happens to be photo essays.

Stay tuned for berry picking at Westmoreland Berry Farms and Cobbler Cookin'.

Plus, this picture taking has turned out to be very relaxing.  My close friends and family know what kind of immense stress (and desperation) I have been under lately.  And of you would like to pray for me, that would be great too!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers!

Happy Vacation from Hilton Head Island!

Hilton Head Island is one of my most favorite places in earth.  I love South Carolina's Lowcountry with all of my being and hope to retire here someday.  These pictures are just some of the things that remind me of this beautiful place.

Most importantly, I live being with my family here.  We had a great Independence Day celebration at Harbor Town.  Hope you enjoyed your holiday as well!

Cheers!

Love Builds A Family

Today was a very special day for W.A. and me.  We drove to Chesapeake, Virginia this morning to spend the day with his very special friend at the Adoptions From The Heart  Annual Picnic.  They share a very special bond.  Before I tell you about W.A. and his soul mate, let me start the story a few months before their births...

It was a sunny day at Panera Bread the first time Catherine and I met.  We both knew we were in for an adventure, but neither of us could have expected what came next.  I think it was surreal for both of us...

See, Catherine and her husband started the adoption process with my Kentucky Gentleman and I at the exact same time.  We had the same social worker, the same homestudy, the same background check, the same counseling, the same classes...you get the idea.  All on the SAME schedule.

Well, anyone who is even vaguely familiar with adoption, knows that every story is different and every "wait" is different.  Well, after all the "sameness" Catherine and I shared through the process, wouldn't you know we became parents to our children two weeks apart?

Amazing!

William and Graycn will always be very special to each other, at least in their mommies' eyes.  But Catherine has been a blessing to me.  Many of my girlfriends are there for me when I talk about the trials, difficulties, joys, differences, scares, etc with my adoption journey and parenting, but Catherine is the only one who will truly "get it".  I'm thankful for the few hours we had to share together today and hope we will always be in touch with each other.  God knows I need her.  It is truly a match made in Heaven, for me and for W.A!

Southern Sweet Tea and Angel Biscuit Breakfast

My Grandma Edna was known all over Woodstock and Canton, Georgia for her biscuits.  We've tried to replicate them as a family and sometimes we can even all get together for breakfast and have them.  It just so happens we made it possible with my lastest visit to Georgia.  We all ate our weight in biscuits and then the kids played outside in the yard among Grandma's roses.

As kids, me, my siblings and cousins would jump all over the furniture until my Grandmother would coax us outside to finish off the excess sugar rush from her homemade sweet tea and jellies/preserves.  We would run around barefoot all over the yard and climb trees just like the stories you read of little middle class southern girls.  It made me cry a little remembering those times with her, as you all know by now, I miss her so much...

Cheers!

P.S. The last one is my favorite.  And if you know where I can find a set of glasses like that, please let me know.  She has had those forever and now they belong to my dad.

Little Boy Cousins...

When it comes to our sons, my sisters and I dont get to share alot of special moments between them because we live so far away from eachother.  We all have boys that were born in the same year and want our boys to be close (just like us).  So...when we get moments like this one...

we get teary-eyed with complete and utter joy.  At least I know I do.  I love my little rascal nephews (and my princess nieces) with all of my heart.  My heart beats with so much love when I see them.  I pulled into my sister's driveway last night to my nephew running out through the garage screaming "Aunt Mowie, Aunt Mowie!"  It just makes me long for home so much!!

Asa wanted to help feed W.A. dinner.  He calmly coaxed him to put on his pajamas and sit down in the bath as well as share all of his toys and his night-night blanket.  He had to sit next to him at every meal.  That boy will make a great big brother if my sister and her husband ever decide to go there.

Ive taken tons of pictures of all the little rascals, so stay tuned to see what posts those pictures inspire in me.  Believe me, its alot.

Cheers!
