Love Builds A Family

Today was a very special day for W.A. and me.  We drove to Chesapeake, Virginia this morning to spend the day with his very special friend at the Adoptions From The Heart  Annual Picnic.  They share a very special bond.  Before I tell you about W.A. and his soul mate, let me start the story a few months before their births...

It was a sunny day at Panera Bread the first time Catherine and I met.  We both knew we were in for an adventure, but neither of us could have expected what came next.  I think it was surreal for both of us...

See, Catherine and her husband started the adoption process with my Kentucky Gentleman and I at the exact same time.  We had the same social worker, the same homestudy, the same background check, the same counseling, the same classes...you get the idea.  All on the SAME schedule.

Well, anyone who is even vaguely familiar with adoption, knows that every story is different and every "wait" is different.  Well, after all the "sameness" Catherine and I shared through the process, wouldn't you know we became parents to our children two weeks apart?

Amazing!

William and Graycn will always be very special to each other, at least in their mommies' eyes.  But Catherine has been a blessing to me.  Many of my girlfriends are there for me when I talk about the trials, difficulties, joys, differences, scares, etc with my adoption journey and parenting, but Catherine is the only one who will truly "get it".  I'm thankful for the few hours we had to share together today and hope we will always be in touch with each other.  God knows I need her.  It is truly a match made in Heaven, for me and for W.A!
